Federer plays Tomic today at the Australian Open. Federer is my pick (as always) as has just too much variety and experience for Tomic to overcome but it will be a tough match nonetheless. Tomic has been playing well so far this year but I don’t think with his current game, he can beat Federer unless Fed plays really, really badly; somehow I don’t see that happening. As I said before, Tomic is neither an aggressive defender & returner like Nadal & Djokovic or a clean, savage belter like Berdych, Tsonga, Soderling & Del Potro (only these guys have defeated Federer in Grand Slams in recent times).
Read this Awesome line in a Tennis post which pretty much sums up my thoughts: “Tomic has bamboozled seeds here before, but beating Federer with finesse is like trying to take down Shakespeare in Scrabble”. Go Federer! 🙂
